A day in the life of our Managing Director
Our second feature in the ‘A day in the life of’ series, takes a look at Bruce MacDonald. Bruce is our Managing Director and has been here since 2015 when he took over in his current role. You can ready all about Bruce’s route, and how he came to be our Managing Director here! For now, we delve into Bruce’s Calendar and find out what a standard working day looks like for him.
Bruce’s Day
I wake up between: 6am and 7am in the weekdays and try to stay in bed until at least 9am at weekends although, unfortunately this doesn’t always happen; despite efforts!
I start my day by: Going straight into the shower and think about the day ahead. I’ll get ready have a really nice cup of coffee and then… set off for work.
I’m responsible for: well… actually, everything!
The best thing about my job is: ultimately, being responsible for everything and working closely with my team, mentoring and supporting them and then… watching them excel at what they do!
My favourite work memory so far is: Showing our customers & our team around our finished homes is extremely rewarding for me. I am so proud of what we create and I love seeing their faces & watching their expression when they see what we do! Showing off a Pathfinder Home is always a great pleasure.
Advice I’d give to somebody getting into this industry: Make friends, it’s a small industry.
Bruce’s daily itinerary:
9am: Normally mentoring my team, catching up with people & resolving any issues
11am: Catching up on Emails and taking/making telephones calls
1pm: Would be nice to have lunch and I really try but, generally am in meetings
3pm: More meetings and try and get some time on the factory floor checking the homes & catching up with the team
4pm: Beginning to settle down to review production, sales targets, cash, accounts
6pm: Getting some piece and quiet to catch up on the correspondence and emails
We are not sure why but Bruce was also very keen to add…
6:30pm: Closing the front door gate to the office !!!
