Achieving the Impossible Again & Again
Devon’s multi award-winning manufacturer broke another record this month & have successfully built the largest ‘mobile building’ in the UK. Crofthead Holiday Park, situated on the idyllic coast of Scotland in Ayr approached Pathfinder Homes with their development plans which included this ambitious building; a 56ft x 60ft (which measures out to a massive 3360sq ft) multi-functional hub, with laundry & storage rooms, open & private offices and even a shop & a large welcoming reception. With a reputation across the industry for innovation & a successful track record for breaking the mold in the ‘Park Home & Lodge’ Industry Pathfinder Homes stepped up to meet the demand.
Designed specifically for the park with their operational requirements in mind, the structure alone in the building took masses of research & development. Built on 4 Steel Chassis’, with a multi-pitch, multi covered roof, glazed airlock entry and a mixed texture of external finishing including a living wall – this was something special.
As Pathfinder Homes’ Architectural Technologist Dean Kennedy stated “It’s not every day that you get a chance at working on an incredible bit of manufacturing history. Well, unless you’re lucky enough to work at Pathfinder Homes.” The building is architecturally brilliant and the design is one of a kind. In fact, the middle two chassis’ is set back from the outside two, forming a perfect entrance way and a clever seating area at either end. The structure also features yet another unique design boasting a flat roof on the middle 2 sections and pitched roofs on the outside two; allowing room for 4 roof-lanterns in order to provide ample natural light.
Taking inspiration from the natural world, the exterior of the building is finished with real slate paneling, state of the art Renotex and a Living Wall – ensuring a seamless yet modern landscape, not to mention an environmentally friendly nod. The natural yet contemporary theme is carried through into the interior which is carefully planned to maximize space and offer a welcoming area where guests can check in to their temporary retreat, socialize, shop & discover. This build involved almost every member of the Pathfinder Homes Team and they have all played their role in creating this amazing piece of history. Bruce MacDonald, Pathfinder Homes Managing Director Stated “We are so thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Crofthead Holiday Park on this incredible project and are so proud of what we have achieved; we can’t wait to see the building fully sited”. The process of the build took just less than 2 months to complete and the structure made its way through the country this week with a team of Pathfinder Homes finishers behind it to complete the internals on-site at Crofthead Holiday Park.
Pathfinder Homes will also be showcasing the very best of innovation, inspiration, and imagination at the upcoming show;
