Newton Abbot Squash Club First Team took on Exeter Golf & Country Club in an epic battle on Thursday. The results follow…
Unfortunately the Pathfinder Homes 1st team slipped to a big defeat to a very strong Exeter Golf & Country club side on Thursday evening, eventually going down 19-6. With Dave Brown stepping in for his first outing this season in place of Chris Stanley who was unavailable, the team struggled against a team featuring a former Devon county champion.
Dave Brown slipped to a 3 – 0 loss to ex-Newton player Jon Sharpe. Ian Bransdon at 4 lost his first match for the side, eventually slipping to a 3 – 2 in a game that was a great battle all the way. Similarly Lee Curtis played out an epic battle but eventually came out on top and was Newton’s only winner on the night. Despite picking up the first game Ben Sutton slipped to a 3 – 1 defeat against the latest in a series of tough opponents and youngster Jared London facing Mike Gregory at number 1 despite gaining a great deal of experience also lost, by 3 games to nil.
So a tough result to take, but another game awaits on Tuesday offering an opportunity to bounce back
